Digitize traditionally paper-based financial workflows

As a product designer, my goal was to design a seamless tool to subscribe to and manage PER contracts, while navigating complex regulatory, compliance, and integration constraints. I led the end-to-end design process — from discovery to delivery — in close collaboration with the CEO, CTO and two developers.

Research & interviews

  • I have continuously interviewed financial advisors from a partner company in order to understand their day-to-day challenges with PER subscriptions.
  • I then facilitated UX workshops with internal teams to map out business goals, regulatory compliances, and align the team around key opportunities for automation and simplification.

Key Findings :

Advisors spent too much time deciphering PER legislation and fill out forms which slowed their sales
Identity verification and document compliance was a major technical point to explore.

Prioritization :

Focusing first on what would generate the most business impact while solving major user break points.

  • Highest priority : Create the digital subscription flow for retirement plans contracts
  • Mid priority : Build a dashboard to track commissions and contract data
  • Nice to have : A tax simulation tool to support advisors during sales conversations

Shaping the product wasn’t a linear process...

...but rather a series of refinements

Design, test & iterate:

  • Interactive prototypes for each feature, to test quickly with our users
  • thanks to user feedbacks, feasibility checks, and team alignment.

Feedback from these sessions directly informed multiple UX improvements — including clearer guidance within forms.

Specifications

  • In the form of user stories, providing to the development team accurate scope for each feature.

Scrum method

I worked closely with the CTO and developers to ensure alignment on feature scope and design quality.

I served as a bridge between design, tech, and external partners — particularly around critical API integrations with the insurance provider and the e-signature service.

As issues arose,

— for example, around the compliance of data formats returned by the API —

I actively coordinated with partners to adapt and preserve

  • Regulatory compliance & integrity
  • compliance of data formats returned by the API

At the end of each sprint

I managed quality assurance testing, validating both UI and compliance requirements in collaboration with the CEO and CTO.

Delivered a functional MVP that started generating business immediately after release.

Over the course of this 7-month mission

I took a lead role to ensured that every design decision was grounded in real user needs and aligned with business goals.

By structuring the work into focused sprints, set-up a design system, driving stakeholder alignment, and managing the full design lifecycle — from discovery to release — I helped bring Monaliza’s first core product to market reduce frustration amoung stakeholders.
